⁶ The Velpuru inscription applies the title *Mahārāja* to a 2nd century ruler of the Guntur region. This king seems to have been related to the house of Khāravela who is known to have used the title at an earlier date. See *Ep. Ind.*, Vol. XXXII, pp. 82 ff.
