The number of Deśī words of uncertain meaning found in inscriptions is too many. Viṣṇuṣeṇa’s charter uses such expressions as *khovā*, *kelā*, *bharolaka*, *desya*, *allavāṭa*, *lakaṭā*, etc., the meanings of which are not definitely known.¹
