Following the Harappan, we have probably, what Ghosh has called the "Sothi Culture",² from a number of sites in the Drishadvati Valley, characterized by the widespread occurrence of a crude ill fired pottery, which for no better reason, has been called the "Ochre washed ware". While some forms show affinities to Harappan, the fabric is closer to that of Hastinapur, Bhadra-bad and other copper hoard sites in the Gangetic basin. Since its stratigraphic relation to either the Indus or the Gangetic valley cultures yet remains to be established, it is better to be wary.
