Pargiter also attempted a very interesting correlation of tradition with linguistic and ethnological data. But one of his basic premises was his strong conviction that the Aryans came into India or at least were greatly attached to the Central Himalayan region and hence according to him, Ayodhya was very ancient. He justified the narration of the rivers of the Saptasindhu in the famous nadistuti from east to west. This theory was revived and put forward very vigorously by Schafer.
