Ghosh, of the Indian Archaeological Department, reported cremations in the latest Harappan level of a site, Tarkhānawāla Derā, discovered by him a few miles north of Anūpgarh in north-west Bikaner. It remains to be seen whether these burials are Harappan or intrusive.
