The size of a field is also indicated by the quantity of seed required for its sowing (*Tasya vāpaḥ*, V.1.45), *e.g.* a field sown with a *prastha* measure of seed was called *prāsthika*; similarly *drauṇika* and *khārika*. Pāṇini refers to *pātrika* as a field requiring a *pātra* measure of seed (V.¹.46, *pātrasya vāpaḥ*).
