AGRICULTURAL OPERATIONS—The operations of agriculture are neatly summed up in the *Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa* (I.6.¹.³), as ploughing, sowing, reaping and threshing (*kṛishantaḥ*, *vapantaḥ*, *lunantaḥ*, *mṛiṇantaḥ*). In the *Ashṭādhyāyī* all these are distinctly mentioned.
