This ‘Pāṇḍya Guru’ might be one of the number of Pāṇḍyan Princes whose inscriptions have come down to us, other than the brothers Sundara Pāṇḍya and Vīra Pāṇḍya.¹ The fratricidal war was obviously for the ‘kingship’ which carried the overlordship of the other chieftaincies with it. (Cf. Marco Polo : passage cited above, Lecture II).
