¹ This is the Mangalam otherwise called Vaḷudi Vāḷmangalam about eight miles south from Kaḷaiyārkoil on the road from Tiruppattūr to Paramaguḍi. The town is in ruins and an extensive raised plot of ground is pointed out as the site of the old city.
