(3) There comes a class of chieftains who may be referred to as belonging to the Śengēṇi family and associated with Tiruvallam. The earliest known member is Śengēṇi Miṇḍan Attimallan Śambuvarāyan with a date in the eighth year of Kulottunga III. The next one in order of time is Śengēṇi Ammaiyappan Kaṇṇuḍaiperumān, otherwise Vikramaśoḷa Sambuvarāyan with a date in the eleventh year of Kulottunga III. Then follows his son Choḷappiḷḷai, otherwise Aḷagiyaśoḷan, otherwise Edirili Śoḷa Śambuvarāyan, son of Śengēṇi Ammaiyappan, probably the one above. This last refers himself to the twenty-seventh and thirty-third years of Kulottunga III.
