In Maharashtra and Gujarat, as in Karnatak, we do not come across any departmental sub-committees of the village council to discharge its various functions, as was the case in Tamil country. It is probable that the village executive must have obviously divided itself in practice into small sub-committees, but these are nowhere referred to in our records.
