¹⁵ Sukranīti gives the ratio of the prices of the two metals as 1: 16 (IV, ii, 98). Tavernier, writing in 1660, says that one golden rupee was equal to 14 silver ones during his times [p. 13]. We may, therefore, well assume that the ratio of the relative prices of the two precious metals was somewhere in the vicinity of 1:15 during our period, though no epigraphical record from the Deccan of our period is at present available to support that statement.
