बहुभिर्वसुधा भुक्ता, स्वदत्तां परदत्तां वा, अग्नेरपत्यं प्रथमं सुवर्णं, भूमिं यः प्रतिगृह्नाति, सर्वेषामेव दानानां, गामेकां स्वर्णमेकं च। and आस्फोटयन्ति पितरः। respectively which occur in many of the grants of our period. Hemādri attributes most of the above verses to various Puranas.(119) It is, therefore, clear that persons who drafted our epigraphical charters were close students of Puranas and Smritis.
