‘After the Sudras follow the people called Antyajas, who render various kinds of services and are not reckoned among the castes but only as members of a certain craft or profession. There are eight classes of them who freely intermarry with each other, except the fuller (washerman), shoemaker, and weaver; for no others will condescend to have anything to do with them. These eight guilds are:—
(1) The fuller or washerman,
(2) The shoemaker,
(3) The juggler,
(4) The basket and shield maker,
(5) The sailor,
