Ancestors of Dantidurga excepted, Abhimanyu of Mānapura, Nannarāja of the Multai grant and Karkkarāja of the Antroli-Chharoli record are the only Rāṣṭrakūṭa rulers, whose houses are known to have flourished earlier than the house of Dantidurga. A number of other rulers, however, have been considered as belonging to the Rāṣṭrakūṭa stock by some earlier writers; it will be first shown why these views are untenable.
