It will be seen that this tendency to change the original ṣṭa into ṭṭa is to be mainly seen in the Mahārāṣṭrī and Jaina-Mahārāṣṭrī, and it is precisely in the south, where these dialects were spoken, that we find the change of original Rāṣṭrika into Raṭṭa.
