Dantidurga was succeeded by his uncle Kṛṣṇa I probably because he left no male issue. This reason is no doubt given by the Kadba plates which were issued in the reign of Karka II, but a record from Chitaldurg confirms it. This record³⁵ informs us that when Dantidurga died without a son, Kannara, his junior uncle, succeeded him.
