The earliest shouldered weapons was discovered by V. Ball in Dhalbhum in 1875.¹ The discovery of shouldered axes and adzes in Mayurbhañja proves that the hilly tracts of Northern Orissa were included within the zone of influence and area of migration of the second group of Austric races.
