The fallacy of this statement has been proved by more than one writer. Mr. B. C. Mazumdar stated in 1925 that the Bhanjas of the present day Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Baud are in no way related to or connected with the early Bhanjas who founded the State of Mayurbhanj.² He points out clearly that the dates recorded in the family annals are absurd as Man Singh’s expedition or rather that of his son, Jagat Singh, did not take place before 1589.
