The evidence of the inscriptions prove clearly and definitely that Mahābhavagupta I Janamejaya had no control over any part of Orissa proper and was the ruler of a small area in Eastern Mahā-Kośala, where the majority of inhabitants are aboriginals or half-breed Oṛiyās.
