In the present state of our knowledge it is impossible to state to what condition the Somavaṁśī kings were reduced after the death of Mahābhavagupta II Bhīmaratha. Bhuvaneśvara in the Puri district continued to form a part of their dominions till the 18th year of Uddyota-keśarī I and some sort of authority was exercised by them till the days of Uddyota-keśarī II when the Brahmeśvara temple inscription was inscribed.
