v1.c28.5
The correctness of Mr. Chakravarti’s calculation is proved by the Būrhan-i-Ma’aṣir which has recorded the year of Kapilendra’s death as A.H. 875=1470 A.D.¹ According to the Mādalā Pāñji the king’s accession took place at camp Kṛittivāsa or Bhuvaneśvara on Wednesday Kākaṛa, 2, Śu. 4, i.e., in the month of Śrāvaṇa. It is probable that from 1434-35 to 1452 or 1454 Kapilendra was engaged in suppressing the rebellion of the princes of the Eastern Gaṅga family and, therefore, the Puri record places his accession at a time when the rebellion of the last ambitious prince of the former line of kings had been crushed.
