What happened to Pratāparudra after the humiliating treaty with Kṛṣṇadevarāya we are not in a position to determine. Vijayanagara panegyrists credit him with another invasion of the Vijayanagara empire. But the account is incredible, because a few Telugu verses by Kṛṣṇadevarāya’s favourite Telugu poet, Allasāni Peddan, were said to have been sufficient to compel Pratāparudra to retire in haste and confusion.¹
