v1.c31.22
The recent researches of Rai Bahadur Rama Prasad Chanda have thrown some more light on this dark period of the history of Orissa. The *Mādaḷā Pañji* states that Chakrapratāpa, the son and successor of Govinda Vidyādhara, was a tyrant and compelled brāhmaṇas to cut grass for his horses. He died in the temple of Jagannātha at Puri, but according to Abu'l Fazl, he was murdered by his own son Narasimha Jenā.² It was about this time that Mukunda Harichandana and his four brothers had come from Telingana. He was indignant at the wickedness of the king and sent armed men disguised as women in covered litters inside the fort and had the king Narasimha Jenā killed. He then set up the late king's brother Raghurāma Jenā on the throne. Raghurāma was murdered and removed in Śaka 1481=1559 A. D., and Mukunda ascended the throne.¹
