In the analysis of Pâli, Sanskrit, and old Kânarese inscriptions published by Dr Fleet and Dr Burgess there are 97 cases in which the Śaka date as well as the cyclic year are distinctly given On comparing these with the tables I observe that in 58 out of these the given Śaka date occurs in the same line with the cyclic year mentioned in the inscription These are —
