v4.c19.161
Muhammad ‘Ādil Shāh's failure on his accession to send a complimentary offering to Shāh Jahān induced the emperor to invade his dominions. The commander marched through Bīdar, captured the fortress of Bhālkī, and on reaching Gulbarga occupied the city but refrained from attacking the citadel. He continued his march, appeared before Bījāpur with 30,000 horse, and encamped by the Rāmling Tank.
