v4.c20.257
Muhammad Shāh twice visited Nādir Shāh in his camp. On one occasion the monarchs had a private interview at which only one or two officials were present and Nādir Shāh rated Muhammad Shāh for his past conduct. After repeating his old causes of complaint he ridiculed the folly and indecision of Muhammad Shāh's recent policy. The fortified camp at Karnāl had failed to arrest his progress, but it had exposed Muhammad Shāh's cowardice to the contempt of all.
