The next rulers are the Chaulukyas, a dynasty whose conversion to Jainism has secured them many chroniclers. The earliest writer on the subject is Hemachandra (A.D. 1089-1173), in his *Dvyāśraya*, who has given a fairly full and correct account of the reign of Siddharāja (A.D. 1143). The work was continued by Hemachandra about A.D. 1160, and finished later on by another Jain monk named Abhayatilaka. The last chapter which is in Prākrit describes the Kingnama. This work is a grammar rather than a chronicle, but with references to dates, it is a good collection of facts and descriptions. For chronology the best guide is the *Vichāraśreṇi* which seems to have taken pains to make the chief authority on dates. This work was written by Merutunga about A.D. 1304, and is known as the *Prabandhachintāmaṇi*.
