If we are not quite sure that Chashtana was a Śaka, there is no doubt that he was of foreign origin. The names of the members of this family show that they were foreigners. Mr. Rapson says (page CXXI) : "Ghsamotika is Scythic"; "shtana (in Châshtana) is a Persian termination"; and (page CXXII) Dâmaghsada "foreign name, may possibly be an attempt to express the Persian Zâda, a son".
