The inscription (No. 965 of Lüders's list) of Girnar (Junâgaḍh in Kâthiâvâḍ) which is dated in the year 150 A. D. says [Ep. Ind. Vol VIII., p. 47] that Rudradâman, by his own valour [svavîryy-ârjjitânâm] gained Âkarâvantî (Mâḷwâ), Surâshtra (Kâthiâwâḍ), Kachchha (Cutch), Aparânta (the coast to the north of Bombay) etc, destroyed the Yaudhēyas, who were loath to submit, defeated Śātakarṇi, lord of Dakṣiṇāpatha, but on account of the nearness of their connection did not destroy him but himself acquired the name of Mahākṣatrapa.
