The capital of the Dakhan was afterwards moved to Devgad or Daulatábád; and there, at the time of the first Musalmán invasion in A.D. 1294, reigned a king of the Yádav family. His power probably extended over the open country of Daulatábád Ahmadnagar and Násik. The hilly country of Báglán and of Gálna about fourteen miles north of Málegaon was held by independent rájás, while the Sátpuda hills near Nímár belonged to a race of Ahírs or shepherds, the last of whom, Ása the Shepherd King, is said to have built the fort of Asírgad shortly before A.D. 1370.
