⁵ According to Mr. Rice (*Mysore Inscriptions*, p. lvii.), this is an island, a few miles below the junction of the Tuṅga and the Bhadrâ. In his map of ancient Mysore (*id.* p. lxxxiv.), it is placed in the position which, in modern maps, is occupied by 'Anavaree,' lat. 14° 4', long. 75° 49'.
