(5) A copper-plate grant from Barôda,³ which records that the Mahâsâmantâdhipati Suvarṇavarsha-Karkarâja of Gujarât, when settled at Siddhasamî, granted to a Brâhmaṇ a village named Vadapadraka in the Aṅkottaka eighty-four. The grant was made on the full-moon day of the month Vaisâkha, *Saka-Saṃvat* 734; and the corresponding English date is, approximately, either the 12th April, A. D. 811, or the 30th April, A. D. 812, according as the *Saka* year is to be applied as current or as expired. Dr. Bühler has identified Aṅkottaka and Jambuvâkâ, which is one of the villages mentioned in defining the position of Vadapadraka, with the modern Aṅkûṭ and Jâmbavâ, five or six miles to the south of Barôda.⁴
