² The name in the original is Sêuṇa; not Sêmana, as in Mr. Rice's translation. And, in view of the facts that the Yâdavas of Dêvagiri come from the Sêuṇadêśa country, and that, in the Gadag inscription of A. D. 1191, Bhillama is described as rendering highly prosperous the rule of the family of the Sêuṇa, i. e. Sêuṇa, kings (Epigraphia Indica, Vol. III. p. 217), there can now be no doubt that the expressions Sêuṇa-sainya and Sêuṇa-nṛipa-bala indicate the forces, not of an individual named Sêuṇa, but of "the Sêuṇa king," i. e. of Bhillama.
