The above details are taken from a copper-plate charter² which was issued by Mârasimha at the time of the winter solstice in December, A.D. 1058, of the Vilambin saṁvatsara, *Śaka-Saṁvat* 980 (expired). It styles Mârasimha *Mahâmaṇḍaleśvara*, and gives him the secondary names of Goṅkana-aṅkakâra, "the warrior or champion of Goṅka," and Guhêyana-siṁha, "the lion of Guhêya." It speaks of him as ruling at his capital of the hill-fort of Khiḷigila. And it records that he granted to a Brâhmaṇ a village named Kuṇṭavâḍa, on the south bank of the Kṛishṇaverṇâ, which is evidently the ‘Kootwar’ of the map, on the south bank of the Kṛishṇa, five miles south of Miraj. The Śilâhâra princess Chaṇḍaladêvî or Chandralêkhâ, daughter of "the Vidyâdhara prince who ruled over Karahâṭa," and one of the wives of the Western-Châlukya king Vikramâditya VI., was very probably a daughter of Mârasimha.
