An inscription at Guḍikaṭṭi in the Sampgaon tâluka,¹ represents the *Mahāmaṇḍalēśvara* Shashṭhadêva I.,—whose name also appears in the Prâkrit forms of Chaṭṭa, Chaṭṭala, Chaṭṭaya, and Qhaṭṭayya,—as a feudatory of the Western Châlukya king Jayasiṁha II. in the *Plavaṅga saṁvatsara*, coupled with *Saka-Saṁvat* 928 by mistake for 929 (expired), = A.D. 1007-1008. At that time, however, the reigning king was Irivabeḍaṅga-Satyāśraya; and, from this, with the mistake in the date, and with the fact that the date is expressed in numerical words,² it seems doubtful whether the record is a synchronous and reliable one.
