In 1779, a Narā of Khāmjāng, who had fled from his own country and had been given land near Sadiyā, raised a body of Chutiyas and Mishmis and headed a local rebellion. He killed the Sadiyā Khowa Gohāin, but beat a precipitate retreat on the approach of reinforcements from Rangpur. His followers took refuge in a forest, where they were hunted down, and many of them were caught and punished.
