This second naval expedition was a complete success and must have made a profound impression on the contemporary powers of South India.¹ The Kaśākkuḍi plates which confirm the conquest of Ceylon justly compare this achievement of Narasimhavarman I with that of Rama’s conquest of Lanka.² Prince Mānavamma was firmly placed on the throne, and not until Narasimhavarman I’s death did trouble overtake him again.
