This inscription is engraved on the rock-cut pillars in the Śiva temple called *Sthambēśvara*, in the village of Śiyamangalam, Wandiwash Taluk, North Arcot District. It consists of a single Sanskrit verse written in an archaic alphabet resembling the cave inscriptions at Trichinopoly and Mahēndravāḍi, and records the fact that the temple called *Avani-bhajana-Pallavēśvara* was caused to be excavated by a king called *Lalitānkura* who has been identified with Mahēndravarman I of the Pallava kings.
