Śengaṇṇan.—Among the successors of the Chōḷa king Karikāla, one of the most important was Ko-Śengaṇṇan who is mentioned not only in the early, Tamil classics¹ but also in the *Tēvāram* hymns of the Śaiva saints Appar and Sambandar.²
