v1.c23.31

² The following passage occurs in one of his letters to his Mahaporoosh. It is without date, but supposed to be written at this period of disappointment. ‘I am involved in difficulties; in debt, and in disappointments, and like a man ready to swallow poison; near the Raja are my enemies, and should I at this time go to Satara they will put their feet on my breast. I should be thankful if I could meet death.’
