A.D. 1756.—As soon as the rains subsided, Rugonath Rao was sent into Hindoostan, accompanied as before by Sukaram Bappoo, as his Dewan, and joined by Mulhar Rao Holkar. The Peishwa prepared a large army which was destined for the Carnatic under his own command, but he did not cross the Kistna before the ensuing February.
