This agrees pretty nearly with the statement given by Nujeef Khan to General Barker in May, 1773; but by that time Ramchundur Gunnesh had returned with a party of the Peishwa’s horse to the Deccan, and the increase may be accounted for by numbers of Pindharees. See Appendix, No. 21, to the Fifth Report from the Committee of Secrecy.
