v1.c7.123

⁴ Mentioned in old grants of land, engraved on copperplates. [Tāgara is identified with Ter (Thair of I.G., 1908), near Naldrug (J.R.A.S., n.s., 1901, pp. 537–52). It was one of the leading cities of the Āndhra or Sātavāhana dynasty (c. 200 B.C. to A.D. 230). The Silāhāras of the north Konkan (A.D. 810–1260), whose name survives in the Shelār clan of the Marāthās, claimed to have come from Tāgara. (B.C.G., 1909, ii. 10–14.)]
