² Mr. Mostyn’s dispatches describe a stratagem practised by Rugoba on this occasion, but it is not mentioned in any Mahratta account, and besides, from the nature of the ground where it happened, which is a very extensive, bare plain, not apparently favourable to the growth of jungle, I doubt the possibility of an ambuscade such as Rugoba is said to have contrived.
