A.D. 1797.—NANA FURNUWEES was assisted in the ministry by Trimbuck Rao Pursooree. Naroo Punt Chuckurdeo had chief command of the army, which, from the late dissensions, was in a very disorderly state; and one desperate affray took place in the streets of Poona between a body of Arabs and a party of Mr. Boyd’s Sepoys, in which upwards of a hundred persons were killed, and a great part of the shops and warehouses in the bazaar plundered during the tumult.
