³ [Prachitgarh (Prucheetgurh) fort lies in Vālva tāluka, Sātāra District, in an inaccessible position on the edge of the Sahyādris at the junction of Rūndhiv village, Sātāra District, with Nairi and Shringārpur villages in Ratnāgiri District. The character of some of the masonry indicates considerable age, and the fort may have been built prior to the era of Muhammadan rule in the Deccan. The fort was captured by Colonel Cunningham on June 10, 1818. (B.G., xix. 543-5.)]
