¹ [Jāwad (Jawud) is a town in the Mandasōr (Mundisore) District of Gwālior State, which originally belonged to the Chiefs of Mēwār. Some little time after its capture by General Browne in 1819 it was restored to Sindia. In 1844 it was included in the districts assigned for the maintenance of the Gwālior contingent, but was once more handed over to Sindia in 1860. Jāwad is now a commercial centre of some importance. (I.G., xiv. 85, 86.)]
