After Yuzbak’s death no further conflict with Orissa is recorded by the Muslim historians, although the continuance of a state of belligerancy should perhaps be presumed. It may be mentioned here that a grant of Narasinha II, dated in 1296 A. D. states that it was issued while the king was encamped on the Ganges in the course of a “conquering expedition”³. Apparently the Orissa kings retained their possessions in south west Bengal; with Balban’s abandonment of the policy of expansion, Lakhnauti barely managed to exist.
