v3.c20.388

Vīra Ballāla was made of less stern stuff than the raja of Kamplī, and tamely complied with Khvāja Jahān’s demand for the surrender of the fugitive, who was carried to Deogīr, where Muhammad had now arrived, to receive his punishment. After being subjected to the insults of the women of the harem he was flayed alive. His flesh was cooked with rice and offered to the elephants, after portions of it had been sent to his wife and children, and his skin was stuffed with straw and exhibited in the principal cities of the kingdom.
